What to Expect?
The Obalon Balloon System is a 6 month treatment plan. The first balloon is swallowed in your doctor’s office, and the doctor inflates the balloon after it is swallowed. The second balloon is placed the same way one month later. And the third, in the third month. The balloons are left in a total of 6 months, starting with the first balloon.
The placement of each balloon takes approximately 10 minutes and most patients return to normal activities with no down time.
At the end of the 6-month treatment period, all three balloons are removed by a brief, approximately 15 minute, outpatient endoscopic procedure which is performed under light, conscious sedation.
