Dr. Mark A. Burroughs Jr., MD, is a highly trained surgeon currently completing his General Surgery Residency at Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where he also completed his internship. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, following his undergraduate education at Baylor University, where he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Medical Humanities and a minor in Biology.

Dr. Burroughs has been recognized for his academic excellence and dedication to the medical field, being inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He also received the Best Community Development and Service Poster Award at the American Medical Student Association's 2018 National Convention. Throughout his training, Dr. Burroughs has demonstrated strong leadership, serving as a resident member of the Graduate Medical Education Council at Methodist Dallas Medical Center, President of the American Medical Student Association at TTUHSC SOM, and Treasurer of the Student National Medical Association at TTUHSC SOM.

His research experience includes studying the protective properties of thioredoxin against coronary endothelial dysfunction under the mentorship of Dr. Kumuda Das. Additionally, he participated in the Texas Tech Apprenticeship Program in Vascular Surgery, where he created a diagnostic and treatment manual for medical students and residents under the guidance of Dr. Dixon Santana.

In 2024, Dr. Burroughs began his fellowship with Ultimate Bariatrics, further specializing in bariatric surgery.
